What's been happening in Music?
Kindergarten: What a fun group of kiddos! We have been learning great circle games and songs that help us work together. We have spent time working to sing together and on our own...that's always fun! We review letters and numbers all the time in song. We've learned "fancy" words in music and what Onomatopoeia means! Be sure to ask your kiddo!
1st Grade: Currently we are working on concert music. The songs are all about animals...farm and pets! We have been working on rhythms and how to count and play simple patterns. Singing and dancing together is our favorite thing!
2nd Grade: We continue to add to our rhythm knowledge by playing and singing. We have learned about the families of instruments and being able to identify their differences.
3rd Grade: We just finished a short unit on exploring sounds with objects that are not typical in music and how we can use them to create sounds. We chose sound cards with designs and then used the objects to illustrate how the sound may be expressed. A lot of cooperation went into this unit!
4th Grade: These kiddos are preparing for their concert which happens right after Spring Break. Yikes! But this is an amazing group of kiddos that seems to really enjoy singing and putting all of their effort together to make music great!
5th Grade: I will miss this group of kids when they head off to OMS! They are talkative and can be all out loud but I wouldn't trade the years I have had with them! They work together in amazing ways and seem to have each others' backs. Musically, they have requested games, songs, and activities that we have shared over the past four years. They have grown in their musical knowledge and ability to identify the basics of playing, singing, and performing.
