What's Happening in Music at Bloomingdale?
5th Grade is working on several instrumental pieces. Some are practicing or polishing their recorder skills with Ode to Joy by Beethoven. Some are working on xylophones and bass bars to accompany a Chinese Ribbon Dance. Other students are using rhythm instruments to accompany a song on CD.
3rd and 4th Grade are preparing their very own classroom concert. It will be planned by the students, rehearsed and edited and then video taped (by me and my iPad) for a final project. It will then be viewed by the other classes in their particular grade level for an evaluation critique. Great ideas are flowing from these kids! Oh and the topic is all about recycling and using everyday things that can be used to make sounds.
1st and 2nd Grade are rehearsing for their concert which is March 10 at 6 p.m. They will teach and sing about jazz music and musicians of that era. Come on out for a wonderful night of jazz, swing and blues music.
Kindergarten has been busy role playing rock stars, cheerleaders, cowboys, chickens, pirates, dogs, cats, pigs, princesses, etc. We have so much fun singing, playing instruments, and learning fancy music words! There is never a boring moment with these kiddos!
Pre-K has enjoyed learning several circle games that help us learn many musical opposites like fast/slow, high/low, and quiet/loud. We love playing the game Musical Spots and Doggie, doggie, where's your Bone? We also love any opportunity to dance our own little way and have everyone else copy us!
Thanks for stopping by!
